National Spatial Study Reveals Crucial Referral Gaps Across 5 Focal Districts

Author: MICGBV Research Team Published: August 25, 2026

Comprehensive spatial evidence gathered across Balaka, Mchinji, Mzimba, Nsanje, and Phalombe shows travel distance barriers for survivors seeking healthcare and legal protection.

The MICGBV GIS Service Provision Study has mapped over 27 key police Victim Support Units (VSUs), district hospital safe havens, and legal aid desks across focal districts.

Findings highlight that geographic distance remains a primary barrier for rural survivors. The consortium is issuing district policy briefs to urge local councils to allocate infrastructure funds for mobile legal clinics and emergency transport vouchers.
